NT:Drink-spiking gang drugs 10 partygoers

DARWIN, Dec 13 AAP - Police are hunting a drink-spiking gang that allegedly drugged
10 partygoers at Darwin night spots over the weekend.

Darwin police said eight women in their 20s and two men had reported drink-spiking
incidents at popular Darwin bars and nightclubs on Friday and Saturday nights.

Police are combing security footage and believe more victims could come forward.

Authorities are unsure how many offenders are in the gang.

The victims suffered nausea, dizziness, loss of muscle control, respiratory problems
and memory loss, while five women required hospital treatment after vomiting.

Police say none of the victims was robbed or attacked.

One victim was offered a bottle of water which had been spiked, police say.

The victims had their drinks spiked at a hotel in Darwin's Smith Street Mall and two
venues on Mitchell Street.

Police warn partygoers to stay safe this festive season by watching their drinks carefully,
avoid sharing drinks and not accepting drinks from strangers.
